    Come to Story Time – a fun early literacy program for kids 5 and under. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. The early literacy practices featured each week help build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. For parents and caregivers, story time offers an opportunity to experience early literacy practices in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents after Story Time. Wednesday and Friday sessions share a theme with something new each week. Sign-up is not required. Story times are held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:45 a.m.

  2. Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series

    The Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series on Thursday, May 25th begins with lunch at 11:30 a.m. with the lecture to follow at noon. Dr. Caroline Crimm, retired Professor Emeritus of History at SHSU, will speak this month about “Cinco de Mayo.” As a Latina/Hispanic immigrant herself, her empowering speeches entertain and challenge her audiences to overcome obstacles and find success through hard work and education. Her own experiences have given her an infectious, positive message that she shares with audiences of all ages. Since her retirement from SHSU, Dr. Crimm has begun speaking nation-wide to corporations, teachers’ groups, university students, and historic associations. The lecture series is planned for the fourth Thursday of each month. Beverages will be provided. Attendees may bring a brown bag lunch. Admission is free.     The Huntsville Public Library is offering free social media classes. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 am starting May 2nd through May 30th in the computer lab. These classes will feature how to sign up for social media sites and how to use them: May 2 Facebook; May 9 Twitter; May 16 YouTube; May 23 LinkedIn. Class size is limited so you must be registered to take the class. You can register online at myhuntsvillelibrary.com or at the Tech Reference Desk. This program is for adults 18 and older.     An elephant, giraffe, and a hippo walk into the library… On Wednesday, May 31st, the Huntsville Public Library will be hosting a Stuffed Animal Sleepover. This program is for ages 17 and under.
